How to calculate your break-even point

Monthly profit = monthly sales − monthly costs. Months to break even = money you put in ÷ monthly profit, rounded up. If you invested $3,000 and make $500 profit a month, you break even in 6 months.

Break-even in items sold

If you know your profit per item, divide what you invested by it. At $12 profit per item, $3,000 takes 250 sales.

Watch it happen live

Profit Pop turns this into a tank that fills with every sale, shows the month you'll be paid back, and celebrates the day you get there.

Questions people ask

What does break even mean for a small business?

It's the point where the profit you've made equals the money you put in to start. From then on, every dollar of profit is a real return on your investment.

What counts as money I put in?

Startup costs like equipment, first supplies, your website and licenses, plus any cash you moved into the business.

What if I'm not making a profit each month yet?

Then you won't break even at your current pace. Look at your margin per product and your monthly costs. Small price increases often make the biggest difference.
